The EMS First-Year Seminar is a required course for all EMS first-year students at the University Park campus. It is a three credit course designed to encourage students to begin the important process of "thinking for a living.

All Penn State Meteorology B.S. graduates, regardless of their option choice, satisfy the requirements to apply for a NOAA GS-1340 position.

Students are encouraged to participate in internships as part of their meteorological education. Internships are key to gaining experience and are seen as a real asset by potential employers.
